Lamis Deek is a Palestinian attorney based in New York, USA, whose work includes civil and political cases. She began her career on national security matters, and litigated a number of ‘terrorism’ cases which became the caselaw underpinning US sanctions and compliance laws. She successfully undertook several cases against manufactured political charges, attempted closures of mosques, unlawful surveillance and repressive government practices, and helped decode and dismantle the multi-agency secret and illegal (CIA-Israeli developed) demographics surveillance unit. She has litigated cases and crafted policies challenging anti-Palestinian matters in the US and abroad, and secured several legal, governmental and institutional victories against anti-Palestinian IHRA measures. Deek launched the ICJ Pro Bono Legal Support Project which helped secure notice of intent to join the South African ICJ case by three governments. She is involved in numerous Palestinian initiatives, including the Palestinian Assembly for Liberation, the PAL Commission for War Crimes, Justice, Reparations and Return, and the Global Legal Alliance for Palestine.
